About the Founder
artisa is owned and operated by Julie Martyn. In early 2016 Julie put her PhD to one side and left her career in biomedical and clinical research to follow her dream and set up a vegan food business in Tasmania. She left Sydney, filled with excitement but with way too many ideas about what that business might look like. After months of soul searching, and rigorous application of the research and development skills honed during her previous career, it became obvious that Julie’s passion, and indeed her talent, lay in making artisanal plant based cheeses, using the finest ingredients Tasmania has to offer.
About the Cheese
Ben Lomond is a camembert style cashew cheese with a traditional bloomy white rind, layered with Tasmanian vine ash. It has a soft, creamy texture and a flavour profile characteristic of cheeses made with Penicillium Candidum.
